What are Garter Springs used for?

• Our interlock garter springs are extension springs with the ends fastened together to form a ring
• They are primarily used to maintain controlled pressure of a radial lip seal on a shaft and to compensate for lip wear, changes in volume or stiffness of the elastomer, and the effect of temperature changes and time
• Other uses include small motor belts and electrical connectors
• Garter springs can easily be shortened to the required length and a relatively firm connection of the spring ends can be achieved by connecting the cylindrical and conical ends together
• In critical applications, the connection can be fixed through laser welding
